Summersun was built from the ground up by Carl and Cheryl Loeb and Duane and Joan Melcher.

Originally encompassing only a few greenhouses, Summersun quickly grew to include 20 acres of production greenhouses and a retail store.

1977
Summersun Greenhouse Co. is founded.

1980's
By the mid eighties Summersun was one of the largest suppliers of wholesale bedding plants in the Northwest and included a wholesale operation in Aurora, OR.

1990's
the wholesale division was sold to Colorspot, a large bedding plant grower from California. Carl and Cheryl then started a wholesale perennial growing operation utilizing the patented Terra-Plug growing process that became known as Etera.

The retail operation was retained after the sale of the wholesale bedding plant division and remained under family control with Cheryl at the helm.

2001
Carl and Cheryl's son Nathan started working at Summersun and the name was changed to Summersun Nursery & Landscaping to better describe the broad range of services the company offered.

2004
Nathan purchases the business and it's operations. Summersun continues to provide the best product selection and information available in the Skagit Valley and beyond as we've been doing for nearly 30 years.
